WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN OUR CLASSES?
You can come in clutching a picture from Pinterest and we'll work out how you can make it, or you can choose to start at the beginning and work through handbuilding and throwing from start to finish. Whichever approach you choose we will do a demonstration each week to introduce everyone to something new so through 1:1 teaching and weekly demonstrations everyone will learn:
about clay, the tools / equipment used in the craft and about firing
about how to form with clay (pinching, coiling, slab work, throwing and how to make handles, lids and spouts)
how to decorate your pieces (impressing, inlaying, slip decoration, sgraffito, sprigging, piercing, stencilling, printing, underglazing, using colouring oxides, resist decoration and agateware)
how to make your own glazes, the different ways of applying glaze and the pitfalls to avoid!
